About Looking

The ‘About looking’ blog series was run by The National Library of New Zealand to coincide with a series of photography events across Wellington in 2025.

‘We have borrowed the title of this blog series from the book by John Berger of the same name, published in 1980. Berger was one to help democratise the act of looking as an art of seeing.

This series, of individually selected images is intended to stimulate interest and engagement with photography and with the collections of the Alexander Turnbull Library in particular.’
