Tunnels, pits, pools
Caroline McQuarrie & Connah Podmore
play_station project space, 8 - 30 September 2017, Wellington, NZ.
'Tunnels, pits, pools' explores a series of extraordinary examples of 19th century excavations in the landscape. Through a combination of photography, written texts, and handmade objects, McQuarrie and Podmore consider the impressive acts of labour performed in creating these sites, and the ordinary people who would have worked on them. The resulting exhibition offers a look back into this history from a decidedly contemporary vantage point.
Photographs and terracotta works by Caroline McQuarrie, text and concrete works by Connah Podmore.
